About Us

Brass Castle Brewery mashes grains, boils hop charges, pitches yeast, racks into casks and does an awful lot of cleaning, right in the centre of Malton.  The result is a range of award-winning beers that find their way all around the UK.

When it began life in a garage on Brass Castle Hill in Pocklington in 2011, the brewery produced four casks at a time. Within two months Brass Castle had won Champion Beer at the York CAMRA Beer Festival.  Within six months, brewing moved to Lord Halifax’s historic Garrowby Estate brewhouse and two years later, Brass Castle installed new brewkit in Malton town centre.

At full tilt the microbrewery can produce 200 casks of beer a week.  In addition to a wide range of cask ales, some beers are canned or bottled, and others are put into kegs.  All the beer produced at Brass Castle is vegan and vegetarian friendly.  We do not use any animal-derived ingredients in our brewery processes.  A number of our beers are also certified gluten-free - including everything that goes into cans.

The town centre location means that the brewery is always open to visitors.  Our Taphouse on-site, serving freshly-brewed beers, opens Thursday from 4pm until 9pm, Friday/Saturday 12pm until 10pm, and Sunday 12pm until 8pm.  Brass Castle's canned and bottled beers are available to buy direct from the brewery.

The brewery is open Monday-Friday and visitors are always welcome.
You will find Brass Castle at the junction of Yorkersgate and Railway Street, minutes from the railway station.
